{ Curry veggies plus dessert }

Today, I decided to prepare a dish from my recipe book for dinner. It turned out pretty okay considering that it's my first attempt, but I really have to remind myself to stick to the measurements. They are there for a reason.

Tikka masala curry potatoes with vegetables

And for dessert, I decided to try out the passionfruit tart I got from Coles. It was pretty delish, but the packaging was a tad sticky - and I can be quite fussy when it comes to being sticky.

Tomorrow, I shall try out some other recipes from my book. Creamed spinach and maple glazed carrots anyone? :)

{ Just the right blend of naughty and nice }

Dear Royce is turning into a real mini monkey. He tries so hard to get into the 'forbidden room' that it cracks me up sometimes. Occasionally he succeeds when I let my guard down, then a game of chase ensues. He may be sneaky and fast, but he sure isn't the brightest when it comes to dodging attacks. Lol. Royce will always end up being carried away on my shoulders to his scratching tree while he looks longingly at the forbidden room.

 fur, fur and more fur. the little furbomb.

Caelum on the other hand, is such an adorable little furbomb. He gets distracted with toys so easily that I could just walk in and out of the room without having to keep an eye on his sneaking around. He definitely stays true to the saying that cats have short attention span. Throw a toy in any direction and you're free to do your own stuff - a tried and true trick when I used the vacuum this afternoon.

Taking photos of cats again has inspired me to begin a mini project of my own. I call it Project Kitty Eyes which actually... sort of says it all. Sheesh, I do fail when it comes to being creative at times. It actually began when I fell in love with a pair of gorgeous golden Somali eyes at the weekend cat show. I then wondered how many different types of eye shape and colour do cats have and thus, begins my quest to capture every single one I could get my hands.. or in this case, my camera on. It's the first time I've started any project, so let's hope that it goes well.

Hopefully I can get some nice shots of other cat breeds at the Hahndorf cat show this Easter Sunday. It's going to be fun spending a day out at Hahndorf again. Oh just thinking of the food there makes my mouth water. And the chance to snap more shots, really, what else could be better than this? :)

{ Funky time }

Went to the Adelaide Cat Show today and walked out with this and a lighter pocket.

At least my darling monkeys seem to really adore the tree. I've never seen them pay so much attention to a post for that long, let alone sleep on it together. It was well worth the price that I paid. :)

{ Caelum | First day home }

Picked Caelum up early yesterday because Sherrie had to rush off to a doctor's appointment. I was hoping to spend some time with Angel but it seems that it'll have to wait - but I did get to meet Kira's new litter who was born on the 4th of April. What a little beautiful bunch of babies. There was a really pretty calico in there that I really adore.

Caelum spent the entire car ride as well as the entire day meowing. As soon as my back is turned for 5 seconds, he begins to meow - probably making sure that I have not abandoned him since I 'catnapped' him from his mommy. I guess me rushing to his side whenever he meows isn't doing too good in discouraging him too. Lol. But he definitely felt at home straight away. He ate the food that I prepared with no complaints, used the litter tray with no trouble at all and plays on the scratching post as if he has been here his entire life. It took Royce two days before he would use his litter tray so Caelum using it on the first night did surprised me a little.

he sure loves his new post.

Of course, there were some hissing and growling with the kittens yesterday. However, both were chasing each other and playing tag this morning. Royce still feels the need to demonstrate who is the alpha in this house to Caelum when he goes out of line occasionally. But hooray to Royce being such a nice big brother and accepting Caelum so quickly! He got an extra big smooch from me for it. :)

Tomorrow I'll be stopping by the Adelaide cat show and hopefully meet some new cats and owners alike. Too bad Sherrie wouldn't be there with her Siberians, but I'm still hoping to see a Siberian or two there. I'm pretty certain I'll see some beautiful Birmans and Ragdolls so I'd best make sure to charge up my camera and to remember to clear out the memory card.

{ Suicidal kitten }

I swear Royce is a suicidal kitten. The amount of times he's been falling off the kitchen counter and tables ain't funny. Just yesterday, that cheeky little monkey even managed to slip right into the toilet bowl. This definitely teaches me to leave the seat down now. Thank goodness I was still awake late last night when it happened.

But other than that, Royce has been an absolute gem. He still purrs when he's stroked and he snuggles with me under the covers at night. I have been woken up countless times with him purring in my face, wanting to be let under the comforter for a snooze. And when I wake in the morning, I couldn't budge for fear of waking the little guy up too. So I would just lay in bed while checking my mail and browsing the forums on my phone. That is, of course, until nature calls and I have to poke him so that I could get off the bed.

He knows when his name is called and he sure is able to tell when food is served, regardless of whose food it is. Hopefully he'll get along with Caelum. I'm really anxious about how the introduction would turn out, especially after the episode with the carpet cleaner. Royce may not like this mini intruder that'll enter our lives tomorrow, but then again, he may love having someone to boss around. Who knows. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping for the best.

{ Pop goes the Royce }

Woke up this morning to a huge lump moving inside my comforter. The lump was wriggling about and making very odd noises, as if it was trying to sniff yet sneeze at the same time. I poked around a little and realised that the lump was none other than Mr. Royce stuck inside my comforter and couldn't find his way out. For an extremely bold guy, he sure lacks the sense of direction and logic to get him out of all the mess.

So after unfastening the buttons of my comforter and freeing the little guy, he pokes his head out of the entrance and proceeds to snuggle beside my head for a snooze. I wonder what other adventures he gets into while I sleep.

The carpet cleaner came today and surprisingly, Royce was afraid of him. There goes the idea of having him on the show bench one day. Never would I have guessed he'd be so scared of strangers - or perhaps it could be the smell of other cats on that guy, afterall he did owned 3 other cats at home. Maybe it might change in the future, but for now I guess I'll leave Royce to be a pampered furball at home.

And now for the bigger surprise. My darling Caelum would be joining this little family this coming Friday evening! I have already sent the remaining payment over to Sherrie and now all that remains is the dreaded waiting again. Oh how I can't wait to see Caelum again, and his oh-so-gorgeous mom, Angel. The boyfriend believes that Caelum has droopy eyes, but I think that he looks absolutely adorable nevertheless. Seems like it's time for another countdown for a very special delivery. ♥

{ Royce | First day home )

So I left the house by 2:30pm and made it to the airport before 3:00pm to pick dear Royce up. When I got to the AAE, I was told that the flight from Melbourne was delayed for an hour and he's estimated to arrive by 4:15pm. Boy was I disappointed and anxious, I'm never fond of delays in plane flights, and this is something that I did not want to have delayed any longer.

So me and the sister popped over to Ikea to kill some time and that had to be the longest one hour in my entire life! I was so impatient and kept checking my wrist watch every 5 minutes.

Finally when it was time to pick Royce up, I could not be more happy and prayed that this time he'd actually landed on Adelaide soil. I entered their warehouse through a side entrance and immediately spotted an aqua carrier. I couldn't contained my joy any longer and skipped towards it. At last my wait for my baby Royce is over!

So without further ado, let me present my dear Royce with his first day home. The pictures aren't too great as it was pretty gloomy and the sun was pretty much setting (I blame the plane flight for taking so long). Hopefully I can get some decent shots tomorrow.

He's so cheeky and affectionate. Seriously, he literally purrs when you talk to him or touch him. He has not stopped purring since I 'rescued' him from that big scary warehouse. And he just adores playing. He's so hyper that I can't believe he's just a baby. He has managed to destroy a little part of feathered wand which he couldn't resist.

A huge thank you to Marina for being so awesome and for trusting me with this little bundle of fur. I just can't wait till he meets his 'adopted' brother. Caelum is a little purrer too, although he doesn't purr as much as Royce the last time I've paid a visit. But he is definitely every bit as playful. Oh the joys of kittens. <3

{ The last few hours }

Only a few more hours to go...

the wait is almost over. almost. --> {Marina}

His little cat tree is assembled and ready to be enjoyed. The little kitty bed is placed beside my computer on a nice little chair just for little Royce to nap on. All the toys are placed in a nice big box, ready to be taken out for a play. Yup, I'm definitely ready to welcome my little man home. :)

{ Photographic opportunities }

Received an email from Sherrie last night letting me know that Caelum and his siblings' desexing operation went smoothly. He'll be ready to leave the nest on the 16th of April and really, time could not possibly crawl any slower than this. But I'm glad that the operation went well, I don't really fancy operations myself.

There's only one day left before Saturday. I've sent over the rest of my payment to Marina and now to just wait to see his little aqua-coloured carrier in the airport on Saturday. I hope I wouldn't squish him to death with all the cuddles I've been saving up for the little guy.

I can't wait to share with Royce all the beauty that Adelaide has to offer

Three months of waiting, finally almost over. Never would I have imagined I could have waited this long and patiently for someone that I have never officially met. I guess love at first sight does exist. :)

On a side note, my sister and I paid a visit to Hahndorf today and I had loads of fun taking photos. Had an awesome German feast that was insanely filling. Seriously I think the feast can feed an entire family. Luckily I brought along a little container to pack the leftovers into. We also had a lovely Tiramisu cake and drinks for tea at this gorgeous little cafe. It was a fun day to just hang out and act silly, especially since it's finally my mid-semester break. :)

I love Adelaide and it's quaint little towns and amazing food. And I especially love all the photographic opportunities around me - and with the arrival of my furry babies, I'm definitely going to enjoy the next two weeks of my Easter break.

{ Five days to go }

I just received the news from Marina.
Royce is due to touch Adelaide at 3pm on Saturday!

Woot! I can hardly wait.

And the countdown begins...

{ Purrs and love }

Paid a visit to Sherrie's house to pick up a bag of Oz Pet litter and tray, since I'll have to set everything up for Royce's arrival. How time flies, one more week and I'll get my little bundle of white furball. As usual, I was extremely glad to see Angel - Caelum's mom, and she was exceptionally affectionate today. One would have thought I've sprayed catnip perfume on myself! Goodness how I love that girl. I do wish that she'll share my bed someday, but that's for the future to decide. :)

Caelum was a little mischievous and playful furball, as hyper and silly as a kitten should be. Boy, how he has changed in colour. He’s no more the little brown tabby I’d thought he’ll be. Instead, he’s turned into a silver tabby, with shades of brown on his fur. I knew that he has changed in colour, but I just couldn’t imagine how it is possible until I saw him in fur.

My sweet little Caelum boy was so adorable, yet silly. How he made me laugh when he kept falling for the same trap to lure him to my side. When he was tired out, he snuggled beside him mom’s warm body and I gently snuck him onto my lap instead. I stroke him to lure him back into slumber and he gave me a pleasant surprise instead. He began to purr. This is the first time I’ve ever heard Caelum purr, and my – he does have a loud purr. I almost thought it was Angel’s purr as she was right beside me at that time, until I felt the gentle vibration from Caelum’s throat. My little baby boy’s a gorgeous purrer.

Unfortunately, I was dumb enough to have left my camera’s battery at home, so no picture updates of Caelum. Boohoo. :(

But I did received some new picture of Royce taken by Marina. Just one more week till he’s home. I bet Marina will miss him badly. She seems to adore this particular litter – the second generation of birmans under the Berrick prefix. She has mentioned how this litter is a total purr-baby too, so I’m looking forward to hearing Royce purr his little head off.
